Substitute Teacher and Part Time Teacher
Summary of Duties: With supervision, as a member of the teaching team, implement, coordinate, and supervise early childhood education routines for young children. Understand the importance of play and facilitate play based activities. Teach and supervise large and small group activities, indoors and outdoors. Assist with supervision of co-op parent classroom teacher helpers.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
-Assist with material preparation and clean up
-Assist with circle time
-Utilize non-violent conflict resolution to help children problem solve
-Supervise small and big group activities, both indoors and outdoors.
-Supervise lunch, prepare and serve snack
-Supervise nap time
-Assist with toiletry/diapering needs
-Keep classrooms and program materials clean and well organized
-Assist with housekeeping duties as needed

Qualifications and experience: 1 to 3 years experience working in Early Childhood Education programs particularly in a multicultural environment preferred. Work experience in a special education program is an acceptable substitute. Must have good oral and written language skills. Able to adapt to modern technology. Bi-lingual English/any language preferred.
Education: Minimum of high school graduate or GED plus 12 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE)/CD, including core courses and show professional growth through continued Early Childhood Education. 16 semester units in general education. Associate or higher degree in early childhood education or child development plus 3 semester units supervised field experience preferred. Teacher permit preferred.

Preschool Teacher Part Time
The Preschool Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to assist with the continual growth, development of the children and to ensure the environment is thriving high quality early childhood education program. The Preschool Teacher acts as a liaison between the families and the administrative team. Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, the Preschool Teacher will effectively plan, organize, and implement the educational curriculum. The Preschool Teacher will also support the team with classroom management, foster high-quality supervision and care, encourage consistent attendance, assist with developing stimulating and age-appropriate environments, promote anti-bias curriculum and peaceful conflict resolution, retain proper ratios, support positive parent partnerships, mediate team grievances, and provide guidance for assessments and narrative reports. This position requires that the Preschool Teacher stay up to date and properly implement Hilltop’s policies and procedures, as well as state and local licensing requirements. The Preschool Teacher is also expected to maintain confidentiality about issues concerning other staff members, children, families, and management/operations while supporting the organizational mission, philosophies, values, and goals of parents/guardians, co-workers, and the community.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 years of experience is highly recommended working in an Early Childhood Education program
- Must have knowledge of Title 22 Licensing Requirements
- Must demonstrate leadership and teamwork abilities and have good oral and written language skills
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Meet the minimum requirements as a fully qualified Early Childhood Education Teacher with passing grades from an accredited or approved college or university and have completed six additional semester units of coursework in administration and supervision of child care

- Attend parent meetings; give staff reports; and lead discussions as needed
- Assist with housekeeping duties as needed
- Attend and assist in participating in staff demonstrating teamwork and collaboration
- Attend all in-service training sessions when offered
